An evening at Pine Lake

The road to the lake opened again in early April, and I went up the first weekend it did. There was still snow in the shaded parts of the forest, but the water was open and completely still.
I sat on the east shore and watched the colour drain out of the sky. The reflection was so clean that it was hard to tell where the far shore ended.
It was cold enough by eight that I packed up, but not before a family of ducks made a slow, deliberate crossing right through the middle of the reflection.
